Our specialty is Cuban Sandwiches, pressed hot, on real Cuban bread, piled with generous helpings of ham, salami, Cuban pork, cheese and all the traditional condiments. It is a perfect bite... an explosion of flavors that meld together into a harmonious mouthful that insists on another bite!
Jimmy's daughter and the Cafe family are keeping the restaurant open and adding online functionality and a new freshness to this valued landmark restaurant.
A LOOK BACK
Jimmy Abel bought the business, and The Caribbean Café has now been open for 27 years, making it one of the longest running restaurants in St. Pete.
A parasail boat Captain by day, Jimmy often would pick up restaurant manager jobs by night. The Caribbean Café was the future he had been looking for. From 1997 until his passing in January of 2023, you could find him chattin', smiling, and joking around with the staff or customers. His loving character and great sense of humor is greatly missed.
